The Tourist arrives back at The Hotel “Rose’s Lime Juice” and is highly frustrated for not being able to speak with Erica. Miss Society’s friend seemed to shy away from properly introducing himself, though he, too, seemed frustrated and rather perplexed after his meeting with the elderly lady who seemed to hold the answers to their questions. He makes his way to the lobby and seeks out The Hotel Owner. He needs answers and needs them now.

“You need to tell me everything you remember from last night”, demands The Tourist. “But I have”, replies The Hotel Owner.  “No, you haven’t. I know you haven’t” replies The Tourist. “Where was I, how did I meet this woman you call Betty Davisson and where is she now?” The Tourist is becoming more and more annoyed and confused. “Ok, calm down” says The Hotel Owner. “You we’re here last night, downstairs in our bar. You came in at around 9pm with Betty Davisson on your arm” explained The Hotel Owner. “And quite the entrance you made” she continued, “singing and dancing and making quite a scene. You seemed very much in love and rather obsessed with each other”. The Tourist just starred at her in disbelief. “In love!” he exclaimed. “But I don’t even know her?”  “Well,” said The Hotel Owner, “I don’t know about that.  All I know is that when she left, she said you’d cover the bill”.  “And where was I when she took her leave?” Enquired The Tourist. “I don’t know,” said The Hotel Owner. She was becoming agitated with all of his questions and was needing to get back to work.  “Look,” she said, “I saw her getting into an Uber just after midnight. She said that she was heading to The Waterfront. She hoped into the car and that is the last I saw of her.  You can settle your bill at the front desk, but I must now excuse myself as I have work to attend to”.  Before The Tourist can say another word she turns away from him and makes her way through a door that says “Employees Only”.

The Tourist, struggling to make sense of it all, slowly made his way to reception. He paid his bill in full, still wondering about all the charges for the Tanqueray Gin, and went upstairs to his room to pack.  He took his time, lost in thought and trying his best to recall even just the smallest memory from the night before.  His head still ached.

“I need to speak to Bruce again” The Tourist thinks out loud. He calls Bruce who tells him he’s off to The Waterfront to listen to some live music. Recalling that Looking Backwards Man told him he has a gig at The Hog & Rose, The Tourist says out loud “Curious”. “What is?” asked Bruce.  “Oh, nothing really. It’s just that I met an odd man when I went to see Erica who said he was heading down to The Waterfront to play a gig. Perhaps we can meet there. It’s a place called The Hog & Rose”. “Sure,” says Bruce, “I know it well”. Give me about an hour and I’ll see you there”.
